Meeting held between the Consul General of Turkey and the President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad ( Archive )







Mehmet Doughan, the Consul General of Turkey in Mashhad met with Dr Mohammad Kafi, the president of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad on Wednesday, 21st June 2017 at the office of FUM’s president. In this meeting, both sides discussed their suggestions for developing the academic relations between Iran and Turkey. Dr Vahedian, the Head of the International Academic Relations Department at FUM and Dr Ghabool, the Head of the International Center for Teaching Persian Language to non-Persian Speakers at FUM were also present at this meeting.

At the beginning of this meeting, Dr Kafi pointed to the high potential of Iran and Turkey to develop further relations and said, “Since Persian is currently taught at approximately 10 Turkish universities, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad announces its willingness to undertake mutual projects revolving around Persian and Turkish languages”. The President of Ferdowsi University added that “French and Russian languages are currently taught at the FUM College, so Turkish may also be considered as an additional language at this center.

Following the talks of Dr Kafi, Mr Mehmet Doughan expressed his appreciation of the facilities and programs provided for international students at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and announced his strong support of mutual collaborations between FUM and Turkish universities. The Consul General of Turkey in Mashhad also expressed his country’s readiness to provide professional teachers and educational facilities if Turkish language courses are taught at Ferdowsi University in the future. 

At the end of this meeting, Dr Ghabool, the Head of the International Center for Teaching Persian Language to Non-Persian Speakers provided some explanations regarding the current collaborations of FUM with some major Turkish universities including Ataturk University and Istanbul University. He also announced that Ferdowsi University is ready to hold short-term, mid-term, and long-term courses from 1 to 6 months and added that “The Persian Language and Literature Group at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad is the best of its kind in Iran and it is completely prepared to accept students from Turkey.
