The President of Ferdowsi University Mashhad Attended the 3rd International Scientific Assembly of Iran and the Arab World in Tunisia ( Archive )







The third international scientific Assembly of Iran and the Arab World started work in Tunisia on November 11. Dr. Mohammad Kafi, the president of Ferdowsi University Mashhad, attended this two-day forum to uphold negotiations with the heads of Arab-world universities.

As the first academic lecturer at this assembly, Dr. Kafi presented an article entitled ‘The academic and cultural relations between Khorasan and the Arab world: from the Nizamiyyahs of Neishabour and Baghdad to Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Arab-world universities’. During this lecture, the president of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad introduced Ferdowsi University as the most active Iranian university in establishing scientific-educational relations with universities of the Arab World. He also enumerated on the potential opportunities and threats of these relations. 

Participating in the general assembly as well as the closing ceremony attended by the deputy of the Minister of Higher Education of Tunisia as a member of the board of directors, Dr. Mohammad Kafi focused on the importance of expanding relations between Iranian and Arab-world universities. The president of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad considered such academic relations as the most sustainable and effective type of relations between nations and announced the preparedness of FUM for sharing its successful experiences in this regard.

Dr. Ehsan Ghabool, the head of the International Center for Teaching Persian language to non-Persian Speakers at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad also participated in this assembly and presented his lecture which concerned the impact of Persian language teaching on the relations between Iranian and Arab-world universities. 

On the sidelines of this assembly, the Ferdowsi University delegation held negotiations with the heads and authorities of some Arab-world universities. These included meetings with the heads of Manouba University of Tunisia, University of Aleppo, Bayt al-Hikma in Iraq, deputy of the University of Kufa and some other delegations from universities in Tunisia, Lebanon, Aljazeera, and Libya. In all these meetings, Dr. Mohammad Kafi introduced Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and expressed the preparedness of FUM for establishing and expanding academic relations, especially with Arabic universities in North Africa.
