The Visit of professors from Afghanistan with the President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad ( Archive )






A number of professors and students from Kabul, Jalalabad and Jami universities in Afghanistan who attended Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) to study Persian language and literature courses, met with Professor Mohammad Kafi, President of FUM, on Saturday, February 15, 2020. At the meeting, Dr. Ehsan Ghabool, Head of International Academic Relations of FUM, welcomed the participants and thanked them for their presence. He mentioned that holding international Knowledge-based workshops for professors and students from countries in the region are among the important programs for managing international scientific collaborations of FUM, and this plan will be much wider in the summer of the next year.


Dr. Zarghani emphasized on the importance of geography without boundaries in language and literature, and he mentioned that poets were cross-border figures and close-ups of the heart from the standpoint of scientific and literary diplomacy and without the fence of ideology. He also proposed to hold a joint conference between the two universities, focusing on the shared personalities and literary heritage of Iran and Afghanistan as the cause of the link between the two countries.


Further, Dr. Hamid Zie, Director of Kabul University's Department of Literature, thanked the president and professors of FUM and expressed satisfaction with the program. He called for greater bilateral communication and aimed at lifting restrictions and creating the appropriate context for the flourishing of academic talents and capacities.


Dr. Farahmand, the Vice President of Education at Jami University, also thanked FUM President and Hospitality and introduced FUM as one of the most renowned universities in Afghanistan, which is scientifically higher than the regional and even western universities. He called for the expansion of such programs.


The representative of Jalalabad University also expressed that the course presented by Professor Bakhtiar Shabani Varaki was an excellent and practical research course and called for more attention of FUM to the eastern universities of Afghanistan.


At this meeting, Professor Kafi found the presence of professors and students in the language courses very valuable especially in the field of Persian language and literature. He emphasized the strengthening of the common linguistic, literary and cultural heritage of the two countries. Prof. Kafi described the mission of the two countries' professors of Persian language and literature first to reinforce this legacy and then to present it globally because it would bring peace and beauty to the world. The President of Iran, in appreciation of the management of International Scientific Cooperation and the International Students Office and the Department of Persian Language and Literature, announced the readiness of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad to support such programs.


President of the University appreciated the management of International Scientific Cooperation and International Students of FUM and Department of Persian Language and Literature. He expressed that FUM is ready to support such programs.


In this meeting that attended by Dr. Raeisian, Dean of the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies, and Dr. Zeinab Moazenzadeh, Head of the International Students Office of FUM, 1,700 volumes of books were donated by the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies to the universities of Kabul, Jami, Jalalabad, Rashadan, and Ishraq.
