Ferdowsi University of Mashhad

The joint workshop on water resources management was held virtually by Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) on behalf of Iranian universities and Jamia Millia Islamia‎ on behalf of Indian universities on 27 October 2020. At the opening of the workshop, Prof. Mohammad Kafi, President of FUM, Dr. Jyoti Sharma, and Mr. Gauhar Mahmood, Coordinator of the workshop in India and Dr. Hossein Banejad, Coordinator of the workshop in Iran, Mr. Vinay Kumar, Business Advisor of India in Iran and Dr. Ali Chegini, Ambassador of Iran in India had a speech.

In his speech, Prof. Mohammad Kafi mentioned the opportunities of relations between the University of Iran and India and the capacities of these two countries in the field of science and technology. He introduced the subject of this workshop as one of the most important human challenges at present, which will become more important in the coming years. Therefore, he expressed the theme of this workshop very vitally and expressed hope that this workshop will achieve its desired goals.

Dr. Ehsan Ghabool, Head of International Academic Relations of FUM, in his speech, welcomed the participants, and gave a report on FUM position at the international and regional levels, and addressed some of the activities of the Secretariat of Scientific Cooperation with India, including finalizing twelve research projects. He mentioned the holding of two workshops in Iran and India and the holding of a conference on cultural dialogue between Iran and the subcontinent.

In this virtual workshop, 50 university professors from India and Iran discussed the latest topics and scientific and research achievements of water resources management, including water pollution, water collection in each climate, water governance, and water resources management.

The purpose of holding this workshop is to promote and increase the level of cooperation between FUM and other universities in the world, including India.

It should be noted that FUM has been selected by the Ministry of Science as the Central Secretariat for Academic Cooperation between Iran and India, and Dr. Seyed Hadi Ebrahimi is the head of this secretariat.
