Mr. Giuseppe Perrone, Ambassador of Italy and his accompanying delegation, met with Professor Kafi, President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM), on Wednesday, 23 October 2019.
During this meeting, the Italian ambassador spoke about the importance of Mashhad as the second important city of Iran and its various capacities such as the academic section. He pointed out to the large number of Iranian students in Italy and mentioned Iran as the second country in terms of number of students in Italy. Prof. Kafi then pointed to Iran's top scientific position in the region and the world and highlighted some of FUM achievements in the international area, including the presence of 2100 foreign students and foreign language learners from 31 countries. He pointed to the signing of seven Memoranda of Understanding with seven major Italian universities and the presence of professors and students of FUM in programs such as study opportunities, conferences and joint educational and research courses in Italy, as well as the presence of professors and students of Italian universities in FUM.
Dr. Ehsan Ghabool, Head of International Academic Relations of FUM, introduced the Persian summer and winter courses at FUM and announced the readiness of FUM to accept Italian students. Dr. Adel Sepehr, Director of the President's Office and Public Relations department, also introduced some of the university's capacities, especially in the field of natural resources and agriculture, and pointed to the expansion of scientific-international relations due to the FAO's centrality in Italy.
