Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) was selected as a technological consultant in the Binak oil field, one of the oil fields in the south of the country with a capacity of approximately 2 billion and 900 million barrels.
Dr. Malekzadeh, Director of the Office of Technology Transfer and Development of FUM, said regarding this news: "Since the beginning of 2016, the issue of developing cooperation with the Ministry of Oil has been seriously discussed at the university. Prior to this project, several other projects including the technology of improving subsurface imaging in the exploration of hydrocarbon resources in the Koppeh Dagh sedimentary basin, quantitative seismic interpretation in the south of Abadan plain, and the university's participation in the Mega Project of Elfin are defined and implemented. Referring to the scientific and executive capacities of FUM, especially the Department of Chemical Engineering, the Department of Chemistry, the Department of Geology and Oil and Gas Research Institutes and the Seismology Center as scientific potentials for cooperation with the Ministry of Oil, he said: Enhanced Oil Recovery Technology will be implemented in this field by networking universities, knowledge-based companies active in the oil and gas field, and technical and engineering service companies, using the cooperation of international companies to create an innovation network for the oil industry. The process of creating, transferring, and localizing technology in this project will have significant economic, social, scientific, and technological effects for the province.
Also, Dr. Babak Amin Shahidi, Head of the Oil and Gas Research Institute of FUM and the executor of the project, stated that 9 fields have already been provided to universities for reviewing and improving performance.
