Launching a 250kW Wind Turbine at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Injecting Generated Electricity into the National Grid

Simultaneously with the Glorious Event of Eid ul-Ghadir, a most glorious Muslim's Eid, a 250kW indoor wind turbine of the Solar Air Research Institute was successfully launched and the generated electricity was injected into the national grid.


The first domestic model of a 250kW wind turbine with the ability to generate an average of 976MWh of electricity per year has been built. The study plan for the construction of a 250kW wind turbine was started by the Sun Air Research Institute located at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad with the cooperation of Tavan Organization. The rotor parts and its connection to the turbine along with the relevant quality matters have been completed successfully.


This wind turbine consists of three parts: base or tower, engine room, and rotor, and has a tower height of 30m and a rotor diameter of 31m.


The turbine is capable of generating electricity with a minimum wind speed of 4 m/s and a maximum of 23m/s. And can withstand wind speeds of up to 70m/s.


This turbine can generate electricity for critical points or supply electricity to agricultural lands and small commercial centers.
