Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has successfully managed to find a place among the top universities of the world according to the most recent release of Leiden Ranking System. Based on the statistics presented by this system in 2017, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has achieved the 509th rank among the top universities worldwide. Also, among Asian universities, FUM has achieved the 158th rank. On the national level, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad is known to be the 3rd comprehensive university of Iran following Tehran University and Shiraz University. It is noteworthy that the CWTS Leiden Ranking offers key insights into the scientific performance of over 900 major universities across the world.
