Ferdowsi University of Mashhad

The press conference of the Start-up ScienceTech+ Entrepreneurship Festival was held at the council hall of the administrative building at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad on 12 June 2017. This press conference was participated by Dr. Mohammad Kafi, the president of Ferdowsi University, Dr. Ebrahimi, Manager of FUM President's Office and Public Relations, the officials of MashreghQazal knowledge-based LTD (Iran), and the representatives of numerous news organizations.

At the beginning of this press conference, Dr. Kafi pointed to the appointment of Mashhad as the cultural capital of the Islamic world in 2017 and outlined the major plans of Ferdowsi University. The President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad added, “Start-up ScienceTech+ is an international program which will be held at FUM in cooperation with the member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). The aim of this program is to provide an opportunity for students from all over the world to present their ideas and discuss them with knowledgeable peers”.

Dr Kafi went on saying that FUM is an international university, so apart from teaching and research concerns, it prioritizes entrepreneurship issues. Through such programs, students are given the chance to present their own ideas which have to positively add to the existing common practices.

Following the speech by the president of FUM, Dr. Ebrahimi said, “Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has a strategic plan for becoming a third generation or entrepreneur university. To this end, the university has independently set up Humanities growth centers and it is considered as the second top university of Iran in this regards”. Manager of FUM President's Office and Public Relations added that “currently, 25 knowledge-based LTDs and 100 active firms are undertaking professional work at these two centers.

In the next part of this press conference, the officials responsible for organizing the ScienceTech+ Entrepreneurship Festival provided further explanations about this international event. This festival will include the following sections:

• Teenage entrepreneurs festival on 3rd and 4th December 2017


• Women entrepreneurs festival on 6th December 2017


• Gathering of international entrepreneurs from Islamic member countries of ECO on 7th and 8th December 2017

These festivals and gatherings would be held for a total of 5 days with the cooperation of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi Science and Technology Park, and MashreghQazal knowledge-based LTD.
