Jurinea khorassanica sp. nov. (J. sect. Stechmannia, Asteraceae): A Newly Discovered Plant Species from Razavi Khorasan Province ( Archive )






Jurinea khorassanica is a 3-year plant with pink flowers and partially fleshy leaves from the Asteraceae family which has been recently introduced as a new plant species by the botanists at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Bahonar University of Kerman.


According to the report by the public relations office of the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, this plant species was first collected in Mid-June 2014 from Zarnikh Mountain located at the Northern side of Koohsorkh Kashmar by the botanists of the Plant Sciences Research Centre at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.


After extensive scientific investigations at the germination location as well as the laboratory, the newness of this plant species was confirmed.
