Establishment of the 11th Delegacy of the International Center for Teaching Persian to Non-Persian Speakers at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in Nabatieh, Lebanon ( Archive )






A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the heads of the International Center for Teaching Persian to Non-Persian Speakers at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Ferdowsi Persian Language Learning Institute in Nabatieh, Lebanon on 18th December 2017. This memorandum of cooperation was signed after Dr. Ghabool’s approval of the foundations of the Persian Language Learning Institute in Nabatieh. This center kicked off its educational activities around 2 years ago, using the teaching resources of Ferdowsi Center. The teachers of this institute have participated in teacher training courses held by Ferdowsi Center and they are now teaching Persian to more than 200 Persian Language Learners.

At the ceremony held for signing this memorandum of cooperation, Dr. Ehsan Ghabool, the head of the center at Ferdowsi University, pointed to his 4-year experience of teaching Persian language and literature in Lebanon as well as the high potentials for expanding Persian language in this country. He then stated that “Ferdowsi center is prepared to support all activities for expanding Persian language across Lebanon, especially in the southern regions”. The head of the International Center for Teaching Persian to Non-Persian Speakers at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad reiterated, “Persian is currently the language of science and knowledge and the presence of 1500 foreign students from 32 countries at Ferdowsi University is a clear proof of this claim. Dr. Ehsan Ghabool hoped that Persian language learners in Nabatieh would come to Iran for passing their complementary courses and becoming more familiar with the scientific advances of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

Subsequently, Mr. Hassan Atwi, the head of Ferdowsi Institute in Nabatieh, described the successful experience of teaching Persian to non-Persian speakers based on the didactic resources of Ferdowsi Center. He expressed his high hopes that after signing this memorandum of cooperation, the qualitative and quantitative level of teaching at this center would significantly increase. 

During this session, a number of officials and Persian language teachers and students talked of the high interests of the Lebanese for learning Persian and asked Ferdowsi center to further support the expansion of Persian language and literature in Lebanon
