Ferdowsi University of Mashhad

Mr. Irfan Mahmood Bokhari, the Consul General of Pakistan in Mashhad, met with Dr. Mohammad Kafi, the President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, on the 27th of December. In addition to discussing a number of issues regarding the admission and exchange of students and underscoring the importance of reciprocal scientific collaborations, the consul general of Pakistan described Ferdowsi University of Mashhad as ‘one of the best universities in the region’.

Accompanying Dr. Mohammad Kafi in this meeting were Dr. Vahedian, the head of the International Academic Relations Department and Dr. Zeinab Moazenzadeh, the head of the Office for International Students at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Dr. Kafi pointed to around 60 Pakistani students currently enrolled at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and reiterated, “Iran and Pakistan have many similarities in terms of lifestyle and cultural values”. He added that “here at Ferdowsi University, we have had acceptable university collaborations with a number of universities in Pakistan, including the University of Lahore, University of Karachi, Punjab University, and the University of Islamabad. The president of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad said: “we have had pleasant experiences of collaborating with Pakistani scientists in different scientific fields”. He continued by outlining the main orientations of Pakistani students and professors, which are Iranian Studies and Persian language and literature. Dr. Mohammad Kafi argued that Pakistani students are among the best international students at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and they are very hard-working and surprisingly cultured. 

In the next part of this meeting, Dr. Vahedian, the head of the International Academic Relations Department at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, mentioned the development of scientific relations between FUM and many international universities in France, Russia, Iraq, China and other countries. He considered these relations as clear instances of successful international cooperation between Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and international universities.

At the end of this meeting, Mr. Irfan Mahmood Bokhari emphasized that universities in Pakistan are interested and prepared to expand their scientific collaborations with Ferdowsi University of Mashhad in the near future.
