The Discovery of a New Application for the Synthesis of Polyoxometalates in Collaboration with the Faculty Member of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad ( Archive )

A team of student from the Shahed Ferdowsi High School in Mashhad, in collaboration with Dr. Masoud Mirzaei Shahrabi, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and a Razi Research Center of the Department of Education in Mashhad (region 2), have succeeded in obtaining a new application for the synthesis of polyoxometalates based on Keggin which is considered as a new achievement In this area.

Dr. Massoud Mirzaee, a faculty member at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, told the university's public relations that the students had repeatedly tested this experiment with the FLUCA software. They threw an electron with 2GeV Energy into the K4SiMo12O40, K3PMo12O40 and K4SiW12O40 combinations. They have been able to capture photons of different electromagnetic spectrum radiation e.g. gamma-ray, X-ray, ultraviolet, and Infrared. The important point of the experiment is that, they produced an X-ray with unique energy capable of using instead of a Tungsten material in the X-ray
tube. Also, the produced gamma-ray has high energy and it is a type of gamma-destructive pair. In other words, at the time of the electron collision with the Keggin combinations, instead of producing a photon, an electron and a positron are generated, and then electron reacts with the positron and as a result of this reaction, the photon is generated.

It should be noted that polyoxometalates are metal-oxygen combinations that have many applications in the field of catalysts, pharmaceuticals and gas storage.
