Presence of FUM President at the meeting of the Association of Presidents of German Universities and the Presidents of the Top Iranian Ten Universities, Germany ( Archive )






Following the invitation of the Association of German Presidents from the top ten universities in Iran, Prof. Mohammad Kafi, President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, attended the joint meetings with the Presidents of some universities in Germany.

During this visit, which took place in October 2018, the presidents of top universities of Iran visited three different universities in Germany in three different cities and conversed with the presidents of said universities. These three types of universities were: Technical University of Darmstadt, Fulda University of Applied Sciences, and comprehensive University of Marburg.

During these visits, in addition to the presidents of the universities, presidents of adjacent universities also attended the meetings and discussed the opportunities and barriers of cooperation between universities of both sides. Some of the obstacles discussed at these meetings were the lengthy process of issuing a visa to Iranian students and professors, linguistic problems, and budgeting barriers; it was agreed upon to take action towards resolving these problems.

During his meetings with presidents of universities in Germany, Prof. Mohammad Kafi, President of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, highlighted the wide-ranging relations between Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and the universities of Germany, and the presence of numerous students and professors from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad for research sabbaticals and periods in Germany, as well as visits of various academic delegations of FUM from Germany as examples of this kind of cooperation.

Preident. Kaffi noted that the presence of six DAAD directors, DFG and the International Directorate of the German Ministry of Science at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, presence of dozens of German language learners at the Persian Language Center for non-Persian Speaking Students, and FUM hosting 20 faculty members and students from Germany In November to participate at the seasonal economic school on water and sustainable development with the support of DAAD will be conducive to expansion of relations between FUM and German universities.
