Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and Wasit University of Iraq Signed a Memorandum of Understanding ( Archive )






The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) in the presence of Prof. Mohammad Kafi, President of FUM, and Dr. Mazen Al-Hassani, President of Wasit University, to expand scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two universities on January 19, 2021.


Prof. Mohammad Kafi, President of FUM, while expressing satisfaction with the expansion of international scientific cooperation with Iraqi universities, announced the readiness of FUM to transfer knowledge and implement the memorandum. Prof. Kafi considered the importance of Wasit University in this field, which borders Iran and the possibility of implementing the memorandum is possible in a short time and expressed hope that the executive contracts under this memorandum will be prepared and become operational as soon as possible.


The President of Wasit University of Iraq also noted that cooperation with Iranian universities to develop and enhance the educational, scientific, and research level of Wasit University is of interest to us. He introduced FUM as the most prestigious university in the region in Iraq and stated that currently, 15,000 students study in 61 departments and subdivisions at Wasit University in Iraq. The university currently has 15 faculties and 676 faculty members.


He said that Iraq currently has 45 active universities, with Wasit University ranked ninth scientifically, which is an acceptable ranking due to the fact that Wasit University is a new university.


It should be noted that the cooperation of FUM with Wasit University includes areas that the parties consider appropriate for the realization of their common interests in scientific progress and to develop cooperation in the field of knowledge between the parties in all sectors and related areas.
