Dr. Mohammad Reza Farsian, a member of the faculty of the Department of French Language and Literature, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM), will participate as a referee in the jury for a doctoral dissertation at Sorbonne University in France. The defense session will take place on July 12 at Sorbonne University, and other members of the jury include Prof. Jacques Bertold from Switzerland and Prof. Tiffin Somova from Paris.
The dissertation is about Jean-Jacques Rousseau, a famous writer, and philosopher. His ideas in the political, literary, and educational fields have had a great impact on writers all over the world, including Iran. Rousseau was one of the pioneers of the French Revolution and one of the first enlighteners to explicitly apply the concept of human rights. This thesis will be defended in the Department of Comparative Literature of Sorbonne University.
Dr. Farsian has been the scientific secretary of three international conferences on comparative literature with French universities and is currently the director of the French language department and in charge of the French desk of FUM. Sorbonne University in France is a university in the French capital, Paris, established by the merger of Paris-Sorbonne University (Paris 4) and Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris 6).
