Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) cultural week event was held at University of Basra, Iraq, with the participation of a group of academicians from FUM on 17-18 May, 2023.

In this event, which took place after the Basra Cultural Week at FUM, Vice President of Social and Student Culture, Vice President of Education, Vice President of Research, Director of Scientific and International Cooperation, Director of the Laboratory Network, Head of the Central Library, Head of the Professors' Basij of Khorasan Razavi, the head of the Faculty of Sports Sciences, the director of physical education, the director of cultural and voluntary activities, the director of the Arabic language and literature department and other professors, the head of the e-learning department, a group of students and experts accompanied the president of FUM.

In the opening of this ceremony, which was held in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Hazem Baqer, Dr. Ahad Zabett, President of FUM, Dr. Saad Shahin, President of University of Basra, Dr. Ghafari, Vice President of Cultural, Social and Student Affairs gave a speech.

While appreciating the hosting of University of Basra, Dr. Ahad Zabett said in this ceremony that holding joint activities between the two universities has strengthened relations and brought the two friendly and brotherly nations of Iran and Iraq closer together. Referring to the presence of students from Iraq at FUM, he said: There are many cultural similarities between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Iraq. The president of FUM considered hard work, respect and trust as the basis for the realization of brotherhood, cooperation and progress.

While welcoming the Iranian guests of FUM, Dr. Saad Shahin, President of University of Basra of Iraq, stated the purpose of this event is to introduce the culture, literature and art of the two universities and to strengthen the scientific ties between them.

The performance of Tawashih by group of FUM consisting of professors, experts and students and giving memorial gifts to the participants in this event were other programs of the opening ceremony.

On the sidelines of this ceremony, the exhibition of scientific publications of FUM, including books and theses, was presented to the public.

On the second day of this ceremony, workshops and meetings were held in different departments of University of Basra among professors and managers of FUM and Basra. Also, on the second day, the ceremony of friendly sports competitions, including futsal, volleyball and chess, was held between the students of the two universities.

The performance of the Tawashih group of the university and the presence of two students who memorized the Quran was the end of this event.
