Ferdowsi University of Mashhad

A delegate consisting of 18 members including the head of the council, head of the commissions and a number of members of the provincial council of Balkh Province in Afghanistan visited Ferdowsi University of Mashhad on October 21st, 2017. The board of councils met with Dr. Vahedian, the head of the International Academic Relations Department at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, and Dr. Moazenzadeh, the head of the International Students’ Office.

At the beginning of this meeting, Dr. Abedin Vahedian welcomed the board of councils of Balkh Province to Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and pointed to the long history of relations between FUM and Afghanistan. He then expressed the willingness of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad to retain these relations and explained the new plan of Ferdowsi University for training faculty members at Afghan universities through Master’s and Doctorate programs. Subsequently, Dr. Moazenzadeh presented a report of the number of Afghan students at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad and their admission process.

Following the talks by the Iranian side, some of the members of Balkh provincial council pointed to the major needs of educational institutes in Balkh Province which would be fulfilled through academic collaborations with Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. After a short discussion, some tacit agreements were reached as to implementing such collaborations.

The Afghan board of councils then visited the special research-educational unit of nutritional sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture, the Information Center and Central Library, and the Central Laboratory at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
