Director of Corporate Strategy and Communications Office, University Putra Malaysia mentioned that sustainable campus is a situation when everybody knows the importance of sustainability regarding saving the earth.
Professor Nor Kamariah Noordin noted, “To create green or sustainable campus we need to practice sustainability like replant our trees, use recyclable container, recycling our waste and finally turn sustainable and natural powers into electricity”.
“We are the pioneer university in the field of green campus in the region because our university is agriculture based and we have one thousand hectares of forest in three campuses,” she said. “Our most fundamental goal to maintain our precious assets is to replant trees after they die”.
“In fact, the likelihood is high that university campuses end up producing far more waste than other types of residence, simply because of the high population they are catering to. After all, in some areas the population can jump tens of thousands when university term begins,” she said.
She added, "Perhaps the easiest way to create a more sustainable campus is to recycle as much as you can. Whether it is paper, plastic, electronics or clothing, many college campuses must have recycling facilities. Otherwise, there may be other local recycling facilities you can use”.
