Founded in 1950, Dr. Shariati's Faculty of Letters and Humanities is composed of the Dept. of Persian Language and Literature, Dept. of English Language and Literature, Dept. of Arabic Language and Literature, Dept. of French Language and Literature, Dept. of Russian Language and Literature, Dept. of Geography, Dept. of History, Dept. of Social Sciences, and Dept. of Linguistics.
The Faculty currently has 83 academic members, 4500 undergraduate and 500 graduate students. The departments offer B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. programs. Moreover, the Dept. of Persian Language and Literature is considered as a Center of Excellence in Ferdowsi Studies.
