Travel to Mashhad
International flights to Mashhad (MHD airport) exist from most countries with a connecting flight in Istanbul (Turkish Airline), Dubai (Emirates), Doha (Qatar Airways) or one of the other middle eastern countries. The transfer time is usually quite short.
Otherwise, International flights to Tehran (IKA airport) are more common and there are direct flights from many countries. Mashhad is about 900 km far from Tehran and is accessible via flights, trains, and buses. For taking flights you must switch to THR (Mehrabad) airport. IKA and THR airports are connected by airport taxicabs which service 24/7 (around 18 €; reservation NOT needed). Round trip ticket to Mashhad costs approximately 100 € with the flight time of 1h15. Train tickets are half cheaper but they are usually packed and need to be booked well in advance. Traveling time via railways is about 10 hours. The IKA airport is connected to the train station by airport taxicabs (costs around 20 €; reservation NOT needed). Traveling by public bus is the cheapest but unexpected events may happen (delay, canceling, etc.). Car rental is not that common in Iran; it is expensive and the process is quite complicated.
In case you arrive in Tehran, we will arrange to send someone to the airport to help you with airport transfer. When you get to Mashhad, our welcoming committee will pick you up from the airport and accompany you to
N.B. local tickets (Tehran-Mashhad-Tehran) cannot be booked via International credit/debit cards and the reservation should be made via national bank cards.
