Modern geography is an all-encompassing discipline that foremost seeks to understand the Earth and all of its human and natural complexities—not merely where objects are, but how they have changed and come to be. The Bachelor's program offers 2 main areas of specialization, i.e. Geography and Rural Planning. A minimum of 136 hours of credit is required for the Bachelor's degree in Geography. The M.A. in Geography focuses exclusively upon 2 areas of specialization: Urban Planning and Rural Planning. Currently, there are approximately 30 M.A.-level students. At the Ph.D. level, Geography and Rural Planning are offered. There are 20 Ph.D. students at this time.
