Plant Protection (also Pytopathology) is the scientific study of plant diseases caused by pathogens (infectious diseases) and environmental conditions (physiological factors). Plant Pathology also involves the study of the identification, etiology, disease cycle, economic impact, epidemiology, how plant diseases affect humans and animals, pathosystem genetics and management of plant diseases. A minimum of 136 semester hours of credit is required for the Bachelor's degree. At the Master's level, Plant Disease Epidemiology and Agricultural Entomology are offered. The Ph.D. has been recently offered.
