Department of Civil Engineering (CE)

The Department of Civil Engineering (CE) at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) ranks among the largest and most prestigious CE degree programs in Iran. This department ranks among the nation's top 10 Civil Engineering departments and has so far provided over 3000 alumni (2300 B.Sc., 650 M.Sc. and 60 Ph.D.). With a distinguished record in teaching, the Department of Civil Engineering has had a leading role in civil engineering education in Iran. Regarding research and entrepreneurship, this department has excelled in discovery, innovation and industrial corporations, nationwide. Moreover, by providing high-quality services to the profession in the holy city of Mashhad, the great Khorasan region and the entire country, it has an outstanding record of engagement.
Since its opening in 1978, the Department of Civil Engineering has stimulated the advancement of the CE profession, pioneering in Transportation, Materials, Structures, Land Surveying, Geotechnical, Hydraulics, Construction, Environmental Engineering, and Geomatics. The CE Department continues to lead as we face the challenges of the 21th Century, ranking in or near the top ten each year in national surveys. But our vision is greater.
The Department of Civil Engineering started the M.Sc. program in 1988. Currently, M.Sc. degrees are awarded in most areas of civil engineering namely: Structures, Hydraulic Structures, Geotechnics, Transportation, Environment, Earthquake, Water Resources, Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems.
The Ph.D. program has been started in the Department of Civil Engineering since 1998. Currently, Ph.D. degrees are awarded in selected areas of civil engineering namely: Structures, Water and Hydraulic Structure, Geotechnics, Transportation, Environment.
