Department of Physics

The Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science at the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad was founded in September 1962, as a joint 3-year program in Mathematics and Physics. Later on, it was separated from the Department of Mathematics as an independent 4-year program in 1965.

The Department of Physics is dedicated to educate undergraduate and graduate students, and to convey the concepts and logic of the discipline to broader scientific and industrial communities. The students admitted to this program can study in either one of the following academic areas of specialization: Astronomy and astrophysics, Nuclear Physics, Elementary Particle Physics, Condensed matter physics and Geophysics.

Currently, the department admits students at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. Bachelor’s students can enroll in the undergraduate program of physics. However, graduate and postgraduate students choose one of the following programs.
